Facilities

The John Garside building is home to an impressive range of facilities. The Lower Ground floor accommodates MIB’s central facilities, as well as electronic and mechanical workshops.
The remaining floors (Ground up to Floor 3) house open-plan generic laboratories plus a range of other core facilities.
MIB’s facilities include:
- Biomolecular analysis, including Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), Circular Dichroism and Microcalorimetry.
- Computing
- Metabolomics
- Proteomics
- High Resolution Imaging
- Cell culture
- Biopolymer production
- Chemical synthesis
- Robotics
- Rheology
- Microarray analysis
- High voltage experimentation
- Bionanotechnology, including Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Laser Tweezers.
- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy
- X-Ray Crystallography
- Electron Microscopy
- Fast Reaction Spectroscopy
- Mass Spectrometry (including Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) and Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance FT-ICR)
- Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR)
- Infrared and Raman spectroscopy
