Intellectual Property
The University of Manchester Intellectual Property Limited (UMIP) was set up to manage the University's intellectual property, primarily through licensing. Their website contains an up-to-date list of all technologies available for licence.
In addition the University of Manchester Incubator Company (UMIC) handles the creation of spin-out companies based on technologies developed at the University.
The staff at UMIP are always happy to discuss current opportunities and, should you be interested in pursuing a technology, will act as the point of contact between the academic responsible and the licensee. They have experience in all stages of the process from the initial Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement to the final contract.
