After I graduated in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, I got an inspiration to learn more about Proteomics. In 2006, I was awarded a Thai government scholarship and decided to do my Ph. D. under the supervision of Prof. Simon Gaskell. My Ph.D. project is the identification and characterization of target proteins of lacosamide, a new anticonvulsant, using a mass spectrometric approach. This research collaborates with the University of North Carolina. Currently, I am in my third year and I really enjoy doing experiments and analysis in Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre (MIB).

MIB is an excellent place to do bioresearch, here my scientific goals are being fulfilled. In my first year I learnt and developed skills in both theory and practice of mass spectrometry. Facilities in MIB are supportive for learning and high quality instruments for mass spectrometry are provided. I learnt how to operate and troubleshoot mass spectrometers such as ESI-QToF,  MALDI-ToF and ESI-iontrap. Therefore, I am able to initiate and carry out my own project work. I always get great ideas when I discuss with colleagues in my own research group, and people from other groups. The open plan environment of MIB allows people from different research areas to mix and communicate with each other. MIB is also located conveniently close to the city centre of Manchester therefore there are many transport links nearby. My time at the University of Manchester and at the MIB has developed my skills for my future scientific career.
