Travel Information

Travel insurance - All participants must have appropriate travel insurance to cover any personal injury⁄medical emergencies whilst in Greece.

The most common route to Spetses is via the harbour at Piraeus.

     
  1. Fly to Athens International Airport (AIA).
  2. Upon arrival at Athens International Airport there are two recommended (by the locals) ways to reach a harbour en route to Spetses, either by taxi or by bus.
    • The direct bus from Athens International Airport to Piraeus is X96 and departs from the designated area just outside Doors 4-5 of the arrivals area. (Travel time 1.5-2 hrs, €3)
    • The taxi queue area starts from Door 4 of the Arrivals Level and extends up to Door 1 – extra charges normally apply for luggage. (Travel time 1.2 hrs~, €30-€50)

  3. Getting to the Island of Spetses from Piraeus.
  4. The preferred method of travel to Spetses is by sea from the port of Piraeus. In high season, several hydrofoils (Flying Dolphins) and catamarans (Flying Cats) of Hellenic Seaways (www.hellenicseaways.gr) depart from the port of Piraeus daily. Ferries and hydrofoils plying the Argosaronic Gulf route call at the following ports (in sequential order): Piraeus - Aegina - Poros - Hydra – Spetses.
    • Take a hydrofoil (2-2.5 hrs, €28). Tickets for hydrofoils can be bought online or on arrival at the harbour.
    • Take a ferry (4-5 hrs, €12) to the Island of Spetses. The Saronikos Ferry - leaves Piraeus for Spetses every day at 8.00

  5. Getting to the hotel Spetses form the Spetses Harbour.
    • Take a water taxi (3 mins, €12), a taxi (5 mins, €8) or a horse buggy (5 mins, €8) from Spetses Harbour to Spetses Hotel

    If you are traveling to Spetses overland

    The alternative option is to park your car (€4 per day) at Costa on the Peloponnese. There is a car park, and in the past, cars have been safely left there. Then cross over either on one of the four daily landing-craft ferries (15 mins, €0.85) or by sea-taxi (3 mins, €15). Ferries go four times a day.

    • To Spetses: 07:15, 10:00, 13:00, 16:30
    • Return times: 08:10, 13:20, 17:00

    Please note that no private cars are allowed on Spetses!!
