Doctoral Training Centre - Integrative Systems Biology; from Molecules to Life
The Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) takes on 10 students per year with backgrounds in biology or physical sciences and train them over 4 years for a PhD in the complex, interdisciplinary field of integrative systems biology.
It is headed up by Professor Hans Westerhoff and the nature of the intensive training involves one year of taught courses and projects and a further three years of self selected research. It will produce uniquely highly skilled, highly desirable individuals who will be well equipped to work and communicate with a multitude of disciplines.
The DTC is one of three Systems Biology training centres in the United Kingdom that have been funded by the EPSRC / BBSRC councils.
More than 50 research groups are teaming up in the MIB to join forces for research on Systems Biology, from all relevant disciplines including molecular and cell biology, mathematics and text mining. Our commitment to the study of Systems Biology is stimulated by a world class professorial team that is rated best Systems Biology expertise in Europe.
