



The recommended methods of traveling to the island of Spetses are as follows:
Tavel Method 1)
1 - Fly to Athens International Airport
2 - Travel via Bus, Metro, Train or Taxi to Athens harbour (Piraeus)
Bus: There is a direct bus (#96) form Athens Airport to Piraeus, which costs 3.20 euros. All buses depart from the arrivals level of the main terminal building, between exits 2 and 3. Expect a Journey time of 1hr 30mins - 2hrs.
Metro: The Metro service is accessable via the main terminal and runs every 30 minutes. Expect a journey time of apprx 1hr 30mins (blue line until "Monastiraki" station, then change to green line until the harbour).
Train: The Suburban Rail service runs from Athens Airport to the port of Piraeus. The service runs regularly and you can expect a journey time of apprx 1hr 20mins.
Taxi: You can also take a taxi from Athens Airport to the Port of Pireaus. Prices start from around 35 euro. Remember to agree the price with your driver before you depart.
*Please note that taxi fares from Athens Airport to the Port of Pireaus will not be covered by YTF/ATF travel grants.
3 - Take a hydrofoil/catamaran or ferry to the Island of Spetses
Two companies operate ferry services from Piraeus to Spetses and both can be booked online in advace or in person at the the ferry port.

4 - Take a water taxi, taxi, bus or walk from Spetses harbour to Spetses Hotel.
The Spetses Hotel is 1.5km from the harbour.
On foot: 20-30mins along the seafront.
Water Taxi: A water taxi holds about 8 paople and costs apprx 15 Euros
Taxi: Taxis can be located near the end of the jetty where you disembark the ferry/hydrafoil and will cost apprx 8-10 Euros
Bus: The bus departs from in front of the Possidonion Hotel adjacent to the harbour, stops at Spetses Hotel and will cost approx 1 Euro

1 - Fly to Athens International Airport
2- Take a taxi from Athens International Airport to Costa (or Kosta) as can be seen just north of Spetses on the above map
Apprx 3hrs/170-190 Euros
3 - Take a water taxi from Costa to Spetses
Apprx 5mins/20 Euros
*Please note that Travel Method 2 will not be funded by Scholarships/Grants due to the increased costs involved. All delegates wishing to reclaim travel expenses should use Travel Method 1 (see above).
This the easiest and fastest way to travel form Athens Airport to Spetses. It is a scenic drive and if you inform the driver you are travelling to Spetses he will take you to the pier where you can catch a water taxi going directly to Spetses. Try to find a driver who speaks english and make sure to agree a price prior to departure.
