Fully-funded studentships available from Sept 2012. A wide range of multidisciplinary projects offering first class PhD training for the most outstanding applicants. The University of Manchester is one of the largest and most successful centres for biological and biotechnological focussed research and training in Europe. Researchers span the Faculties of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Medical and Human Sciences and receive more BBSRC funding than any other university in the UK. The BBSRC is in the process of establishing 10-15 Doctoral Training Partnerships across the UK to provide PhD training in areas of strategic relevance to the BBSRC. The University of Manchester has submitted a bid for DTP status and, if successful, we anticipate appointing around 25-40 PhD students to start in September 2012. The DTP scheme will provide students with excellent cross-disciplinary research training in line with the current BBSRC strategy for research support and training. The deadline for applicationsthe for first interview dates will be 24th Nov, with interviews taiking place on 5th Dec for internal candidates and 7th Jan for external candidates.
